Xmas Bonus

I've only recently (a few months ago) acquired a regular cleaner. It only occurred to me during the holidays that maybe I should have given her a Christmas 'bonus', though I wouldn't have known how much to give.
Does anyone else give them to their cleaner? Is it a done thing? And how much?

Yes, I do. A bottle of fizz & some cash. I put £20 in this year. I gave £50 to a past cleaner who was brilliant and cheaper than current cleaner and didn't break things

Yes, I used to give £20 plus gifts for her and her children.

Yes, mine got some chocs and a £20 M&S voucher each.

Allthebestnamesareused · 02/01/2018 10:28

I gave mine £50 extra in a Christmas Card and saying thank you (usual weekly amount is £39 for 3 hours).

FemaleDilbert · 02/01/2018 10:28

£20 usually

CiderwithBuda · 02/01/2018 10:39

I gave mine £60. Usually give her £50 but she is very reliable and keeps her price per hour down. And I know that some people she works for cancel for holidays etc at short notice and don't pay.

Would be lost without our lady-who-does, who cleans, and decorates and does all sorts...and claims to enjoy it. So, all round fabulous and would not be without her.

Over the holidays, we pay her her regular wages, so she could have a holiday on full pay. If she does want to come in, we pay her as usual. Because she is an angel, she keeps track of when we have visitors and tries to schedule time before and after any visitors.

We are very spoiled, but at least we know we are spoiled and goodness knows what will happen when she retires.

I gave ours £20 in a card.

Thanks for all the replies. Feel so bad now that I didn't give her anything! Would it be strange if I gave it to her this week?? I like the idea of a voucher but imagine that cash would be more welcome. Maybe £30 (pay her £50 per visit) and some chocolates??
