Gas and elec costs

We moved house last month from a old damp 3 bed 2 reception terrace to a bigger 10 year old 4 bed semi with a open plan kitchen diner living room. We had card meters at the old place and I used to put on between 10-15 a week elec and 5-20 a week gas depending on the time of year. We have a smart meter here so I can see daily usage today we got up around 11 went for a walk got home about 2 and put the heating on then until about 9pm the meter says we have used 4.50 gas today and just under £4 electric. It feels like an awful lot of money but I'm not sure if it's because the house is a lot bigger than the old house. But I wasnt expecting the bills to more than double. I have checked online and I don't think we are paying over the odds to the supplier. How much do other people pay and which suppliers do you use?

That does sound a lot. Difficult to compare though as our bills are dual fuel, and evened out across the year (so we pay the same in Summer and Winter even though not using heating in Summer).
Mine works out £101 per month for the two combined, and our house is a high ceiling Victorian house over 3 floors We also have 3 teens / young adults who haven't grasped that the 'off' switch is just the same as the on switch, and who have to have at least 3 or 4 gadgets plugged in at anyone time.
Every time I change providers (most years), I'm told we are "high users" and sometimes that we "use double the national average".
So, in that context, it sounds like yours is a lot, but maybe it will balance out over the Summer ?
