Cleaning black mould from silicone seal

loveablether · 28/12/2017 22:35

Hey, dull thread and I really should get out more but any tips on cleaning black mould from silicone seal - I have a aluminium bathtub, with wet wall.

I've heard of the leaving cotton wool soaked in bleach around the rim overnight but will this affect the wet wall or tub?

Thanks

This is absolutely amazing! Have a Google as I think you can also buy it on Amazon and other outlets ... www.lakeland.co.uk/20284/HG-Mould-Remover-Spray-500ml

Dettol mould and mildew spray works really well!

MyBrilliantDisguise · 28/12/2017 23:00

Just bought some from Amazon - more than £1 cheaper, too.

I swear by Dettol mould and mildew spray.

Milton as in for bottle sterlising works really well on mould in grout, shower screens etc. You could give that a go- You use it neat and then rinse off

loveablether · 28/12/2017 23:03

Dettol mould spray - even on silicone? How long do you leave it on for? A lot of these sprays say only 5 mins can I leave it in for longer?

Get some rubber gloves. Fold several pieces of kitchen towel together, to make it thick, but keep the length. Liberally cover in bleach so it's soaked all over. Lay it on the silicon seal, pressing it in. Leave overnight. Rinse thoroughly. Repeat if necessary. Won't work for vertical seal as the kitchen towel will probably fall off.

Doubt anyone will check but the bleach and kitchen towel trick worked a treat - thanks guys. X
