Happy Xmas wise ones!
I'm wondering if there is a magic gadget that I should look out for in the sales..
Would one gadget be able to chop/slice/grate vegetables? - not bothered if it can't cope with the super hard stuff like sweet potatoes, turnips etc but must be able to deal with potatoes, onions and carrots. Please let me know if you have such a device and whether you recommend it, also would rather not want something that is over complicated/big.

What is wrong with a good quality sharp knife?
I have some vegetable slicers that I have bought as I am a sucker or advertising.
What do I use? A very sharp quality knife.

Every time.

A mandolin is useful for shredding large amounts of cabbage/beetroot/onions quickly. But they are very dangerous as it is very easy to slice your finger open.

Thanks both! I think I've found it Smile it's a Braun food processor and I've had it for a week now and it's awesome!! I cook for 8 on a daily basis and it's definitely shaving about 30 mins off my cooking time per day - long may that continue!
