Clueless here. Advice welcome.
I've lived with a basket for yonks so would welcome the cutlery tray. Any better?

Yes. You just grab the cutlery to put it away, much easier than taking the basket to cutlery drawer!

Loads more space due to no basket. Cutlery cleans better up there too!

Interested as our dishwasher has finally given up too. Which one is recommended?

I have a Miele with the cutlery tray and love it.

However they have now got a different style of cutlery tray called a 3D cutlery tray that looks amazing. Adjustable height and width for bulky utensils. Video here..

I have a Miele washing machine which is 5 years old and bought second hand so no idea of its real age, it's a long lasting bugger if that helps!

Thanks so much, everyone! Have ordered Miele and am now finding out whether it's a 3D cutlery drawer that we've asked for. So helpful!

I love my miele (thanks mumsnet for letting me test it and keep it) the tray is so useful. When I load my mum's dishwasher with a basket I'm always surprised by how little she can fit in in comparison !

I ruled out a tray as some of them looked like you had to place each item in a slot. I’d far rather just sling a bunch of forks into a basket. I also can just crack the door open to pop a tea spoon in, rather than having to pull out an entire tray. It also meant that the top rack height was limited because of the cutlery tray, and couldn’t fit in pint or wine glasses.

Just replaced a crap Elecrolux with a low/medium range Siemens. Very pleased with it.
