Vomit on the carpet & mattress (yeuch)

My lovely cousin was here on Saturday aged 5 and threw up everywhere in the middle of the night, on the carpet, on the mattress, on the bedding, etc, etc.

Of course the mattress did not have a protector on it and now stinks. I have washed it and washed it, but it still stinks.

Carpet smells revolting, we have washed it and lifted it, cleaned the underlay and it still stinks.

HELP?

I really do not want to get a new carpet and mattress if I can avoid it.

BTW, cannot help but feel guilty at how much I hate the 5 year old for doing this!!!!

Do you know anyone with a carpet cleaner? The hose attachment on them would probably do the matress too....?

I have one coming tomorrow, so will give it a try. I tried water and vinegar, but now it really stinks.

Household contents insurance would cover this.

can u sprinkle bicaronate of soda on it.... leave it for a few hours then hoover it up.

bicarb is very good at absorbing smells.

make sure its dry BEFORE you sprinkle it on though
