Best freezer containers *really boring question alert*

We have the Ikea sets of freezer containers - Pruta
It is nice to know that all the lids will (in theory) fit and having the tall, thin containers is a space saver.

However the sets contain tiny containers we never use, and they tend to go misshapen in the dishwasher and not shut any more.

Re-using takeaway containers is a bit of a non-starter as they are far too small for a family portion of something, we get very few takeaways, and they are all different sizes so the lids never fit the other containers.

I am very very tempted by the Joseph Joseph ones but they are very pricey (especially if they also warp in the dishwasher!

Any slightly less bank-breaking, or tried and tested and non-warping, ideas?
I would really prefer something we can keep using again and again (so, not bags) as I'd rather throw away less plastic than more.

We buy sets of 3 tubs with coloured lids from home bargains

drspouse · 11/12/2017 14:55

How do they do in the dishwasher? And are the lids interchangeable?

The 3 tubs are the same size so yes lids would fit all the tubs. They have survived the dishwasher so far

I use these ones from Ikea. I've had them for over five years and they are still going strong. They are very sturdy and come in a couple of sizes.

I use the takeaway container style boxes from Wilkinson. They are 5 for £1.20 I think and I get two portions of curry, bolognese, soup, etc. in one box. I write on the box with a Sharpie and you can wipe it off with a scourer when done.

Wilkinson are great for storage containers so if they are not suitable then the would probably have something else.

NannyR those look a lot more sturdy than the green ones!

Lakeland stackaboxes are pretty good. I have the 400ml & 750ml ones & they both use the same lid. I think there’s a larger set too.

I got some glass ones with clicky lids from b&m, only £1.99 each and really good. I like the glass ones as they can go in the oven or microwave. The b&m ones also have a vent for the microwave

I like the look of the Lakeland ones.

I love Lakeland!
