Cleaning gadgets

Any recommendations? I'm lazy as anything, and currently just have the normal stuff - dishwasher, hoover, etc. Anything that could make cleaning the house easier/quicker/more fun would be greatly appreciated!

So what gadget do you use most around the house?

Blackmail and bribery.

One of those window vacuums. You wash the window, mirror, anything flat with soapy water and hoover the water up...

A steam mop? Love mine.

Following post with interest

I am incredibly negligent with window cleaning, so a window vacuum sounds appealing. And what exactly is a steam mop? I have a garment steamer (sodding thing is useless and doesn't work, but anyway) is it like that but for floors?

And I have no one to blackmail or bribe! DH is good and does his bit, and then when it comes to doing my share I take a few days to build up the motivation 😅 maybe I ought to bribe myself? A new Yankee candle for each week that the house is successfully cleaned and sparkling Halo

Yeah you fill it up with water (I use ironing water so it smells nice) plug it in and off you go over your hard floors. Saves you filling up the mop bucket. Apparently the heat of the steam sanitises your floors. So much quicker. When your done just wash the cloth on the bottom in the washing machine. I love lazy gadgets too. (Currently using the slow cooker to cook my dinner for tonight)

DP is not allowing me to get the robot Hoover... that's my current mission in life.

mussie · 26/11/2017 10:03

Oh my word yes! That has been on my wish list for a good while. Don't think anyone will buy it for me anytime soon though 🙄 and I love my slow cooker too, as long as I remember to clean it right after. If it gets left overnight it's a beast, won't fit in the sink properly so very difficult to scrub. I have a soup maker too that is a dream - similar immediate cleaning required, but saves SO much hassle

You can get slower cooker liners that eliminate the need for washing altogether..... just saying! (Search Amazon for ' crock pot liners' or I think Lakeland do them).

My window vac changed my life.

Cordless hoover if you don't have one already. Also life changing.

Little handheld steam cleaner. Great for grout, nooks and crannies etc.

Debby08 · 26/11/2017 10:20

Cordless hoover really helps a lot. I remember having an old one and it just couldn't get to do the things needed to be done. Get one if you still haven't. Also an automatic inverter washing machine. Saves me lots of time and energy.

There are slow cooker liners?! You have made my day. Added to the shopping list. I'll be able to use it so much more! It was mostly an occasional thing because I hated cleaning it so much.

And I would like a cordless hoover - DH doesn't believe in buying new things until the old thing has broken though, and our hoover shows no signs of giving up the ghost just yet, so I may have to wait that one out. They're cheaper than I thought though, could probably get one sooner as a birthday or Christmas gift.

And what's an automatic inverter washing machine? I tried googling but I still don't get it Blush
