I am in the market for a new sewing machine, however the more I look the harder it seems to be to find what I want, and because I know what features I want, I think this is making my search harder!
I need one that can do/has;
zig-zag/stretch stitch
adjustable size button holes
invisible zip foot
drop feed
free arm
extension table
twin needle(optional-not totally necessary but would be nice)
suitable for heavy weight fabrics -denim etc.
I'm not sure that I want all computerised...
Am I asking too much?
Does anyone know of a machine that will do all this?

My elna does all that and I love it! I use it for sewing costumes using lycra and stretch fabric a lot and the super stretch stitch is great. It also has a lingerie stitch which works really well on stretch mesh.
It does all the things you listed above too.
I'll try and link to it below.

Bernina does some fantastically versatile models.

Expensive but I've never looked back after getting my first.

Some of your list are accessories you can buy separately. Invisible zip foot, twin needle etc.

Everythi got else is pretty well standard on all but cheapest machines. I would look to spend £250 and get an Elna or a Janome.

Thank you, Meala, BossyBitch, NotMeNoNo. That has given me some more food for thought! My machine is an inherited, 50's Singer, straight stitch, that I love. I do feel restricted a lot though and so I am really determined to get my new machine choice right!
