Dullest thread ever but please help me find perfect tea towels

I’m doing a big declutter at the moment but I also have the urge to go shopping. I found the solution to this problem when I looked at the state of my tea towels, which are variously a) stained b) mismatched, like really really random c) torn d) don’t match the decor in the kitchen even remotely. If I replace them with ones which aren’t manky and put the old ones in textile recycling, and it will be Kondo-Neutral and my kitchen will look (slightly) less like a student hovel.

If you weren’t on a tight budget, and your kitchen was decorated in shades of pale blue/green, what would be your ideal teatowels?

I'm on a futile search for great tea towels. They're always too thin/not nice colours/too stiff. I'll know when I find the perfect ones !!

You should have seen Nigella's Tea Towels in the first episode of At My Table.. someone on Twitter said they were made from Liberty scarves.... They were gorgeous though...

Oh no! I googled “Nigella Lawson Tea Towels” because I was intrigued by 8paws’ mention and I discovered that her kitchenware range from a few years ago included nice cotton waffle teatowels in exactly my dream shade of duck egg blue but now they are no longer available .

Mind you they did have cupcake embroidery which is a) a bit naff b) terribly 2008 darling.

I got lovely bright floral ones last yr in a set in sainsburys and one gorgeous one with bobbles on that i got in marks and sits on the door of my rangemaster "on show " !@

I quite like these Lush tea towels and have bought a few as presents. Particularly like the beetroot!

Lush ones are nice. Bit of an outlay to replace the lot with a complete matching set at those prices, but nice.

I'm a big fan of ecloth tea towels.

I have 20 and do a separate wash with just those each week. Lakeland do a 3 for 2 offer on them frequently - it is usually on in January. I'm not overly bothered about them matching the kitchen though as I keep the clean ones in a drawer and tend to put used ones in for washing rather than leave out to dry.

Think I am on my third set now...I keep the old ones too as they are great for spills etc.

I have been coveting the John Lewis 100% linen glass cloths. Does anyone have these, and if so, can you tell me how robust they are? Can they withstand a boil wash (I tend to combine machine maintenance wash with tea-towel wash).

They look nice but I'm loth to spend £8 apiece on them unless they're going to last for many years.

I got some fabulous teal KitchenAid kitchen towels in TK maxx last week. Worth checking out!

Jangneus do lovely ones with matching dishcloths. You choose the colour you want and there are loads of designs...

Oh TK MAXX is a great idea, I’ve got one just round the corner. I should definitely check them out.

I also rate the e cloths.
They dry things, and themselves very quickly and easily, and you don't get loads of fluff.

Anthropologie do lovely ones.

I went to TK MAXX in the end. Cheap but acceptable (we have a dishwasher so optimal technical dish drying capability is not a top priority).

Be wary in TKMaxx as I bought some and they are much smaller than I was expecting. I got some lovely ones from Habitat in their sale earlier this year. Lovely and large and wash well. I have a glass teatowel for polishing up glasswear. Its got holes in and lives hidden at the back of the tea towel shelf so no one else uses it on anything greasy. Another place to have a look is dotcomgiftshop when they have their sale. Really cheap, fab patterns and wash very well.

I like ecloth tea towels too.

This is random and left field, but, if actually drying stuff is the aim, use hand towels.
Saw this in a job years ago where someone put out hand towels in the kitchen area for drying up. Struck me as a fabulous idea. They last longer, they dry better, aesthetics may be wrong but just a thought

These ones from John Lewis Best tea towels I’ve ever had. And we don’t have a dishwasher so we need decent ones!

I had a thread about tea towels recently because I was fed up of buying what I thought were decent quality towels which just moved the water round rather than drying. One of the recommendations was KitchenAid, which I found in TKMaxx luckily in colours to match our kitchen.

Or maybe some of the grey ones would be better - there were more in the shop than showing on line.

Linen ones are a great investment! I inherited some from my gran about 25 years ago. They still look great and work well, especially for polishing glasses.

I prefer towelling tea towels to the flat kind. I bought some lovely grey kitchen aid ones recently from Tk Maxx - oh my they are fab. They were £5.99 for 2.

I have some Joules ones that I really like. They're larger than average, quite thick and have a loop to hang them up! And they're pretty.
