I’ve found some kind of insect in my house today and looking around and much to my horror I have found some more Sad I have no pets and I have to say this as I know what people will be thinking .. I don’t live in a shit hole and I’m always cleaning and deep cleaning so I’m genuinely horrified!! What should I do and what are they?? Bed bug wise we haven’t been away in months and months so haven’t stayed anywhere to bring anything back!??

Can you take another photo? The one you've posted is out of focus.

I’ve binned it and hoovered the room like a crazy lady , found a few more under the bed Sad that was the best my camera would do as it was so small. There were none in the bed/mattress that I could see.

Looks like a woolly bear - larvae of carpet beetles. They are hungry little wool-eating fuckers. The carpet beetles are like tiny yellow/black ladybirds, so if you've only found one woolly bear then perhaps it was just a rogue beetle that flew in.

(And they lurk in hard-to-reach carpeted corners, right up against the skirting, so very easy to miss with the vacuum)

Yep a carpet beetle

Thank you, I feel better that it’s not a bed bug or flea, I’ll just have to hoover every day and try and keep them at bay. We had a lot of work done recently and replastered the ceiling and there are currently some holes into the loft so wondering if they have come from there.

I’ve never felt so itchy as today!! Erghhh little buggers!!

They'll have almost certainly come from the loft, then - they like munching on old birds' nests and general old grot. Vacuum right up against the skirting and move furniture, especially anything you're using to store woollen things. Treat them like very slow floor-based moths. In a previous rented house with a bit of an infestation, I got a strange satisfaction from lying on my front on the carpet hunting for them.

Thank you - I will do - I’ve arranged for my FIL to come around tomorrow and put the wood back on the ceiling around the loft hatch so there won’t be any holes! I’m sleeping easier tonight!
