Boring question about pillowcases

Which way do you put your pillows on a double bed? With the opening towards the middle or outside of the Bed?
I did a hotel management course many years ago and if IRC the advice was to put the pillows with the opening away from the door on the bedroom but this just looks wrong to me. And what if your bed is opposite the door?

I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but I have housewife pillowcases and always put the loose side uppermost, facing outwards so the pillows are a mirror image of each other.
