Cotton symbol on washing machine

I’ve tried to look online and I can’t find the answer to this - wondering if anyone here could help?

What is the difference between these two settings for cotton on my washing machine. What does the symbol mean? Thanks!

What machine is it?

Mine has a cycle for cotton and for a large load of cottons. Maybe something like that?

in my case (miele) it means long, economical cycle with full capacity.
all other cycles only can take half or 2/3 of a load.

Check your manual. But I guess it usually means cotton fabrics and you should wash them separately from other fabrics.
