Morning

I planted sunflowers last week with the dds, but we try every year, and they all get eaten by snails I've bought short growing ones this year, and planted them straight outside in the hope of getting a few flowers. I'll post pics if we get anything.

tortoise - I'm glad the birthday went well. Are you better? (Sorry if you've said but I've not been around much and missed loads)

I've read all your lists from yesterday, nad everyone seems to be doing realy well at the moment.

I'm getting less done, as ds has discovered a climbing ability, and keeps getting up on the windowsill. The dds NEVER climbed. He also gets up the stairs, into the dds room and up the ladder on to the top bunk if the gate is left open!

I've got friends and family visiting today, so I made LDC and a fruit crumble yesterday, but still need to sort a lasagne for later.

Back in a bit...

Morning Jelley Hope you have a good day today with your friends and family. We always have a similar prob with sunflowers and slugs ...hope for some better luck this year!

We have a party to go to this afternoon but nothing much else planned for today so I'd like to do some jobs in the garden.
So, my list looks like -
~bath the kids
~wash bedding and re-make beds
~re-shape boarders in the garden
~buy and plant sunflower seeds
~pressure wash patio...if time
~dust downstairs
~general picking up and putting away as always
~order kids summer shoes online
~ironing (but I can't see myself being bothered to do it!)

Have a good day everyone See you all later x

Morning shouldbe morning jelley

dh is ruthless when it comes to snails .. he bashes them with his trowel when i'm not looking .. i always try and rescue them by sticking them in the brown recycling bin with all the grass clippings/weeds ... then i had the thought they would be trapped and die a slow lingering death.. i really am a sap !

Its dd's 3rd birthday tommorrow so want to get the house straight today as have everyone over on Saturday so list is :

The uswal DW/WM routine
Ironing pile (will do this in the evening as DH is away again )
Sainsburys delivery/put away
PO to post the card i should have done yesterday
Change bedding in spare room
Clear dh's paperwork into one pile rather than 12
General dust
Hoover dining room
Water sunflower seeds

collapse in heap with glass of wine (damm meant to be ironing ..

Have a good day all

Hi all

Jelley Sunflowers! had completely forgotten - are we too late to do it today? Hope you have a nice day with your family - you have planned ahead much better than I ever do!

shouldbe cripes I find you 'not much today' list a bit scarily extensive! I had a usy day yesterady and only did my recycling! Enjoy the party!

yaddayadda love you gentle approach to snails - my dp throws them into next doors garden as they don't bother and have it all overgrown andhe claims they will like it better there! Hope you enjoy planning for the birthday party - I always enjoy the preparation bit.

So I did not much yesterday so I am hoping today will be better.

Me today:

  • make cake for friends birthday
  • dw
  • wm
  • fold and put away clothes
  • ds bedroom
  • hoover upstairs
  • change beds
  • post some books
  • sort some work papers
  • into town with ds's for museum
  • bathroom (how many days has this been on my list and not done!)

Oh someone threaten me to clean my bathroom please!

glassslipper · 12/04/2007 08:23

Morning all.

not much done this week but very happy the sun is out this week. Just ordered this for DD so very excited We are going to give her a little plot at the weekend to grow some flowers

Off swimming this morning and then will try and get something done later.

Havent caught up on yesterday's thread so hope everyone is ok.

Jelley · 12/04/2007 08:28

Hello again.

We have snails and slugs The snails I throw into the alley at the back of the garden. I hate slugs (I stood on one once in a damp house when I was a student...in bare feet!) but can't bring myself to put chemicals down, so I us salt and /or beer traps when I remember to set them up.

I'm going to do a list.

wash up
wipe surfaces
clean fridge
clean cupboard doors
sweep the floor
hoover
washing x 4 (second load already finished and waiting to go outside)
clear/clean dining table
s & s bathroom
cut grass
clean fish tank (no chance of doing it today, bt will keep a list going til it is done again)

Dimpled - I had nothing else planned before I came on here and thought up a list ! If I hadn't taken a few mins out and sat at the computer I may have got away without doing much today! The gardening stuff will be good, out in the sunshine etc - have no idea how to use the pressure washer so that may be abandoned anyway
glassslipper that house looks fun, my two have something similar which they use a lot

shouldbe · 12/04/2007 08:32

sorry - Hi yadda

shouldbe · 12/04/2007 08:33
Jelley · 12/04/2007 08:37

glassslipper my dds would have loved that house. DD2 still would, and she is 6

shouldbe and yaddah I stopped ironing and no one noticed! I did iron the curtains before I rehung them this week, but can't remember what I ironed before that!

Dimpled def not too late for sunflower planting.

There are quite a few of us doing sunflowers I am going to put canes next to mine today, they have all kind of flopped over after replanting them yesterday. I have never actually grown them before, so I'll have to see how they turn out I'm on to those pesky slugs though...so thanks for the tips ladies

Right...well I'll be back with a list in a bit

glitterfairy · 12/04/2007 09:13

LOl ludaloo it is easier when they are a little bigger! and the sun is shining as well. Off to make my carrot juice and millet porridge now.

morning all impressive lists.

EHM I hope you have a better day today
Jelley have you tried grapefruit and orange halves for the slugs? My grandad who was a very good gardener (I don't seem to have any of his genes) used to put the halves of grapefruit and oranges (after he'd eaten the insides in the garden so they looked like little igloos, the slugs all went in and then every morning he chopped the captives in half with scissors - not for the squeamish
Dimpledthighs get cleaning that bathroom Mrs

EHM ooohh no electric hope it all gets sorted

shouldbe I have put our sunflowers by the shed, so with a bit of luck they should be sheltered enough there, and they are in big pots...not the ground, so I can turn them round if they grow the opposite way. for you though...all that growing and they reward your neighbours Lol!!!

Aufish · 12/04/2007 10:21

Hi Luda I hope my washer gets fixed today.

Hi to everybody else can't keep up with all of you so you know who you are!

Well I've just got up and eaten still feeling exhausted as I was up until 1.34am doing my ironing! Cleaned the toilets as well before going to bed, at least I knew they were going to stay clean until the kids got up!

To do today:

Put away all the ironing from last night
Wait patiently for the washing machine bloke and then when he's gone put the first load of towels into it!
Give the rug a quick hoover over
My older kids have just been very nice and paired up all the odd socks that lurk in my odd sock basket
For the rest of the day I am going to kick back and relax as I ache and am tired from the washing and ironing from yesterday.

Have a good day and enjoy the weather if you have it nice!

shouldbe · 12/04/2007 12:36

Well done Aufish Take a well deserved rest today.
EHM I missed the bit with you having no power Hope it's all OK soon

Well, I have only just finished pressure washing our patio - that took me 2 1/2 hours It's very addictive! It shouldbe (! sorry - couldn't resist!) less slippery now so will be worth it
The kids came out and joined me in the garden and have been playing very well together untill dd turned into a daredevil climbing in our tree and has fallen and badly grazed her back she's now sitting on the very soft sofa watching a Barbie film so she's happy again (ds is hidiing from the baddies in the film - he's such a wuss! )
Can't see myself getting through the list today as by the time we've had lunch it'll be time to get ready for today's party (...blasted anxiety level is high as a result - not looking forward to it very much cos I'll have to stay )

Aufish · 12/04/2007 13:15

Well the washing machine man is here and is fixing the silly thing. The Queen of Housekeeping was right, it was the pump that has gone, it's going to cost me £54 which isn't bad but considering the fact that I only paid out £80 a month and half ago the company is doing it cheap for me. Will be going back to them again if anything else goes wrong with it! It's seriously going to get used today once its done though!

ludaloo · 12/04/2007 13:36

Aufish hey thats good news then nothing worse than no washing machine.

shouldbe Hope your party goes ok {{{HUGS}}} for you, stay calm you'll be fine

Well I have to get on with my list, My friend called round to see if we wanted to go to the park, so we have just got back and had lunch, so I need to get cracking now!!!
