Why does ironing make me feel sick?

I rarely iron, but when I do (school shirts) I feel horribly nauseous after half an hour or so. Anybody else get this? I think it might be the smell that does it.

Me too
I think it's the heat from the steam iron

TheScottishPlay · 15/10/2017 18:45

It's a subconscious reaction to the relentless, thankless subjugation of it all. (I do it too).

Fekko · 15/10/2017 18:45

The thought of ironing makes me feel sick.

ShovingLeopard · 15/10/2017 18:46

Do you feel sick after standing without moving much at other times?

BlessThisMess · 15/10/2017 18:56

No, only when ironing. Although I am prone to motion sickness but I can't see how it would relate to that.

I immediately thought motion sickness because your eyes are having to track back and forth all the time.

Plus the relentless subjugation reason. Grin

the relentless, thankless subjugation of it all.

That is a wonderful phrase. I need a frilly apron with that on it, with ditzy flower print.

I get this too! Only after a long time ironing though...feel really sick and have to stop and do something else.

Steam, heat.
