Any suggestions PLEASE!

Um, think this might be a bit late, but as it's probably a barrier cream I'm guessing using lots of water isn't going to be that effective. I would start by taking the excess off with kitchen roll, letting it dry and then hoovering it off if it dries up and goes crusty?

Good luck!

Thanks, have took the excess off already, will let it dry and take it from there.

Had been trying baby wipes as well.
My childminder has suggested ironing it over paper as its oily

i had this happen twice (don't ask me why i didn't learn and keep the cream out of reach!) but I am afraid the only way it came up each time no matter what I did was professional cleaning - and I was told I made it worse by trying to clean it my self as i had rubbed the cream (sudocream) deaper in to the carpet fibres

Am thinking this may be my only option, its just not budging!

hoolagirl, my DS did this, and I posted the same question on MN about a year ago!! the best tip I had was to scrub it with diluted lemon juice to get it up, or vinegar. I did have to scrub and scrub with the lemon juice, but it came out, and smelled quite nice too. His carpet is dark green though, so hopefully yours isn't pale yellow or something! Good luck!
