Removing moss from a fleece jumper

My DD decided to roll around on the ground in her new fleece jumper and it was covered in moss afterwards. The fleece is the slightly shaggy sort and the moss had little hooks on it. I have washed it twice with no improvement. I have spent about 2 hours picking bits out of it. Any other ideas? It was a lovely soft fleece but now it's spikey!

There is no saving it I'm afraid! I've bought one of those types of fleece in the past... NEVER AGAIN for that very reason! I've gone for the short pile fleece now, doesn't pick up grass etc and washes up nicely.
