Best laundry detergent for washing whites?

Just that really! Not necessarily for white shirts etc. I love having white towels and white bedding but I hate that they gradually turn yellowy grey. What's your favourite/the best detergent for keeping whites white?

Daz or ariel actilift

I love the big boxes of Daz though the Ariel gel is better for attacking tomatoey stains.

I find Vanish powder really good for whites. Put a big scoop in with the detergent. For any greying tops or shirts, soak in Vanish overnight and then wash and they come out like new.

I use Ariel powder. You need to use a powder as the liquitabs and gels don't have bleach. It's the bleach that keeps things white.

Also, the sunshine is a natural bleach so try and line dry as much as possible. I have white sheets and love to see them fluttering in the breeze looking perfectly white. Blush

Fairy non bio powder

If tricky stains add biotex too

No grey towels here & hard water area.

I read somewhere that powders are better for whites because they contain bleaching agents, don't know if this is true because I don't use powder but I always find direct sunshine really brightens up whites

I use bio powder and a scoop of fake vanish for whites

I always use colour catcher sheets for whites. Even a piece of black fluff on a sheet can colour a whole wash. I've heard Napisan is good for whites but I've yet to find it in a shop!

Ariel excel gel. Scoop of vanish. Colour catcher.

I read a while back when some of my whites went off white...

90 wash

A good detergent ( I currently use Ariel)

We only have white towels and sheets Grin...

They’re brilliantly white... oh and the whole never wash them with anything else.

Direct sunshine is a bit optimistic for us, at this time of year. I last managed to hang washing out almost 4 weeks ago and it still got rained on, despite a forecast saying it was unlikely!

Ariel is the best one (Persil is pretty good too).

What everyone said about powders is right; they contain bleaching agents, whereas liquids/gels/pods do NOT (bleaching agents aren’t stable in a liquid form and break down easily - detergent bleaching agents are different to normal chlorine bleach).

Exceptions to this are the powders aimed at colours or eco versions (the bleach is just left out).

Hot wash and washing only whites with whites and you’re all set.
