Removing stains and grubby prints off white walls

I have white walls and they are getting really grubby, especially on the stairs. It's a matt white paint I think (standard new build painting)

I really can't face painting yet. Is there anything that will clean it up a little?

My husband's a decorater. He said no, if it's matte. It will just take the paint off.

Wipe it gently so that it doesn't disturb the paint too much. When you repaint use clean extreme or similar so that you can properly clean it.

I recently cleaned some marks from my hall walls which are painted with an off white Matt emulsion. I thought I was going to have to redecorate but nope, came up like new. I used the scouring side of a bathroom scourer sponge (a white colour scourer bit) and fairy liquid and just gave it a gentle buff on the marks. Really pleased with it. I’m going to tackle my ceiling soon as well which has marks from candle use. Never again!

I'd heard about using a magic eraser but I'm worried about taking the paint off.

I might give it a go in an area you can't see.

Baby wipes? They seem to work on everything else!

Magic eraser. You only need to rub lightly.

try buying some liquid sugar soap and mixing with warm water. it usually helps get rid of grime.

Magic eraser is fine on matte paint. Rub gently.

Sugar soap is also brilliant on white upvc window frames and plastic patio furniture.
