Hard water area

I live in a hard water area - when I boil water in a pan or kettle you can see a white substance on the top of it!

I'm spending a small fortune on mineral water - is there a way of combating this?

Do purifiers work?

any advice appreciated!

Our water is white when it comes out of the taps. I use a filter jug for making hot drinks and sometimes cooking if I feel like it. If I don't use filtered water or clean the hot water dispenser I get scummy tea.

I haven't noticed a white substance in pans when they are in use but there is a film left on the pan if I just boil a pan of water and empty it out without using it and leave it to dry.

Try a filter jug first and see how you get on before getting anything more expensive.
