I have a Bosch which has been brilliant. I've had it six years and only had to call them out once, four years in. I'll have another one when this one needs replacing (could do with a bigger drum). Ours was from John Lewis on offer with a five year guarantee.

The cycle with the arrow are cottons 40 Eco and cottons 60 eco. They use less water than standard cottons and heat for longer so the heat element isn't working as hard, saving water and electricity. But they usually take a lot longer than they the normal cottons cycles

Which ever you but check they do a quick wash with a high spin speed. Bought a super duper Miele and then noticed its fast wash only spins at 1200, even though machine gets up to 1600 on other cycles and you can not amend the fast wash programme. Boo hiss!

Really re Miele? My Miele 30min express wash spins at 1400 but I can then put it into "spin" for a further 5 mins at the max of 1600. Had our last Miele for 20 years and 5 kids, it was going strong when we sold the house.

This one is 12 years and counting so maybe design has changed. I love the fact that I can select the programme, the temperature separately.... shame if they've changed this. My friend didn't like her Bosch as it was made to conserve water and didn't have a 'water plus' button which mine does. She found it didn't get wet enough to clean properly and replaced it. Maybe she was just unlucky.
