Getting rid of musty smell on pushchair covers

Can anyone suggest how to get rid of a musty smell on pushchair covers? Unfortunatly the pushchair was stored in the garage and now the covers smell musty and damp. Before I throw them out and buy some new ones can anyone suggest anything I can try? So far i've put them on a 30 degree wash as recommended on the care label but they still arent right.

I stuck stuff that smells damp over heated towel rail in bathroom, close door and leave a scented candle burning. I don't think 40 wash would hurt tbh - it's only 3 degrees above body temperature so can't be that harsh is my reasoning (not with other stuff obvs in case colour runs) or else sprinkle it with bicarb/neutradol/carpet powder stuff and suck it up with vacuum?

Good idea about the scented candle, I'm going to try it!
