Which is less disgusting, wee on floor or toilet bathmat?

DS is recently dry at night (hooray, hooray) and is making it to the toilet for wee in the early hours. But he isn't always so great with his aim. I can't work out which is less revolting, stepping in a wet puddle when I stagger in first thing or a bath mat thing for the toilet which gets washed as often as poss knowing it's basically a wee sponge. I am still up several times every night with DD so my faculties are not up to dodging wet puddles first thing.

Can you get one of those stickers that go in the bowl to help him aim?

Encourage him to sit down on the loo rather than standing up and aiming in the dark. I am a great believer in chaps sitting down....their aim doesn't get better as they get older!

and yes to pissmat. I rather wash that than stepping into a puddle.

He won't sit on the toilet without the topper which he can't quite do unaided so for now that idea is one for later

I am going to buy the mats though, at least 4, 2 dark colour and 3 light so they can be washed everyday

Wee in the floor is far easier to clean!

If he's not old enough to a) clean up his own wee or b) not wee on the floor I would really be encouraging him to sit down on the toilet.
I would prefer wee on the floor that i can clean up immediately than a bath mat which will fester.

Just seen he can't do the topper unaided- most ALDI stores near me have a fantastic toilet seat with an additional 'flap' that is child sized (and can easily be put down by a child).
I'm a childminder so it gets used very often here.. and is an absolute life saver! My mindees of 2 years old use it with ease and it doesnt effect the toilet usage at all and doesn't even look any different unless in use. Might be worth a google.

How old is he? I thought most little boys prefer to sit down when they first start so try that, if you haven't already.
Try a penny in the bottom for target practice during the day.
Buy a bath mat, I'd have a hissing fit if I stepped in a puddle of wee 1st think on a morning, regardless of who's it was!

Inactually a mat would be better.

While yes it is a "wee sponge" it's better for two reasons:

When you come to using the toilet, you can slide the mat out of the way, negating the risk of stepping in a puss puddle.

If there is no mat, if urine makes it under the crack between toilet and floor, it will stink to high heaven, possibly requiring the removal of your floor.

A mat you can wash. As you're planning to wash them every day, I can't see the problem. If you do leave them to fester, then the floor would be better, but you're not.

Someone linked to an Argos loo bowl light, they are less than half that price on Amazon. I bought one and its motion activated and does work, I did get rid though as it was a bit annoying and no littlies in this house, but would be good for a toddler in the night:Amazon here

mat, obviously. I don't think you can put the floor in the washing machine.

or wash the floor as frequently as you wash the mat. Life's a bit short, really.
