Hi everyone,

I've been back at work since my little boy was 6 months coping okay. A change in circumstances at work means I have to do 4 days, it's not really negotiable. (Long story)

I'm finding it hard to not spend all my time doing jobs and wondered what time savers people have. Friends have suggested things like internet food shop, feeding LOnin the kitchen so I can unload the dishwasher/wash up at the same time. They sound like obvious things but they really weren't to me and I really want to maximise fun over chore time. Any help appreciated :)

My friend convinced me to stop ironing all our clothes. She hasn't ironed for years and I'm now following her example with many items. The trick is to shake & fold the laundry carefully as you take it out of the machine. Then hang it out to dry making sure it's as smooth as possible. Then finally refolding it. It does actually work for many items especially kids stuff. This has saved me time!
When mine were little I would clean the bathroom whilst they were in the bath.
Not easy being a working mum when you want to spend free time with DC

Have a laundry day. I put washes on Sun night, Mon morning, and into Mon evening as necessary. All folded and put away at Tues bedtime, then no more laundry until Sunday. If this doesn't work because you don't have enough of one particular thing to last a whole week, buy more of it.

Look at Flylady "Home blessing hour" - 6 jobs, 10 mins each if you really push yourself with a timer, do them every week either in 1 hour (I'd suggest whichever work night you're least knackered) or 10 mins every day. For example your 6 jobs could be vacuum middles of main living area floors, wipe kitchen floor, dust main living areas, empty bins, quick scrub of bathroom, change beds. However you do really need to have cleared the surfaces first for this to work, and for me that's the bigger job!!
