Which washer dryer?

Looking at getting my first washer dryer, want to spend around £400 on this and have looked at Candy, Indesit, beko, hotpoint and Hoover models.
I'm not sure what I should look for to compare them and which would be a good make out of the above.
Any recommendations?

I have an AEG which I'm pleased with. Dryer is good, but takes much longer than a separate dryer. I reckon you get what you pay for - the cheaper ones don't get great reviews. Buy the best you can afford!

Ok thanks- it's a choice between buying it now at a lower price or trying to manage without for a bit and get a more expensive one which I would find difficult over the winter tbh. Will look into reviews more and will look at Aeg too.

Bumping for you and for me

You'll not get a great one at £400.

I wouldn't touch AEG with a bargepole - I had 2 over 3 years (second was a warranty replacement for the first) and they spent more time broken than working. The repair guys said they'd never been any good since the electrolux takeover.

MIL opted for a Hoover one, which seemed OK, but she found it too complicated, so ended up buying a separate dryer.

Thanks- maybe I should leave it for a while longer and pay a bit more. I've looked at some reviews for all the brands mentioned at around £400 and they seem to be ok. I would love a more personal recommendation though. Does anyone have any brands or models that they've used that they would say are good at under £800

I've used washer/dryers for many years, had an AEG with no problems, lasted about 17 years, also a Zanussi. After a big kitchen refurb, I chose all Siemens appliances, including their washer/dryer which I'm very pleased with (a year old). Caveat - I don't use the dryer much, mainly for fluffing towels, or finishing off line-dried stuff, but it is a nice machine and they are around £700/800.

Thanks for that recommendation, haven't looked at Siemens yet. I would potentially need to use dryer a lot in winter especially. Still researching, would love more recommendations from anyone who likes their current machine!
