Kim & Agi suggested keeping toothpicks/cocktails sticks handy, for cleaning muck out of tiny places (screwheads was the example)....and as I read it I thought How Anal Is That!!!!

I have just started cleaning all the light switches and plug sockets in the kitchen, and I have to admit I used a cocktail stick to get the grime off the switch on the plug socket ...well its all set back and you can't get the cloth corner in there...

Do you think it is time I went out????

glitterfairy · 31/03/2007 11:28

I have a friend who scrubs the inside of her taps with a toothbrush! I think that is anal. You are just removing dirt

yaddayah · 31/03/2007 12:35

cleaning steps ? We have a brick pathway .. i don't have to scrub that do i ???

i now have a mental picture of me scraping out the mud with a toothpick

Aufish · 31/03/2007 13:03

NineUnlikelyTales · 31/03/2007 13:16

Morning lovely ladies

My parents are coming later so the house is getting a good old clean. So far..

Bathroom immaculate
Bedroom immaculate
Stairs vacuumed (by DH, no less)
Tesco.com delivery half put away
Loads of fab stuff ordered fron Lakelan.com (not strictly necessary but what the hell!)

To do
Tidy downstairs
Vacuum downstairs
Finish putting shopping away
Get veg for dinner
Unload dishwasher
Tidy kitchen

Better get on with it...

Have a good day,
9nut

Jelley · 31/03/2007 14:19

Afternoon
Spring is in the air, and we are all busy.

So far today I have done

shopping
bank
3 loads washing
wash up
cut back overgrown plant in the garden
remove weeds from lawn in readiness for buying and sowing grass seed in the patchy bits

Still to do

Change beds
more wasing
tidy up ingarden some more

Jelley · 31/03/2007 14:20

I have a concrete front step and very short tiled path. I might get that done, too

My mission for today is to clean out the washing powder drawer in my machine.

ludaloo · 31/03/2007 14:29

Ok...

~Flip the mattresses and vac them done
~Clean the door handles and frames and light switches done downstairs
~Move the kitchen around so I have more worktop space done
~Clean my cooker hood done
~Clean the microwave done
~Hoover the edges of the carpet under the radiator in my room (I've moved DH's golf clubs, and they have left a dusty gap!!)
~Wash the door step, and outside front door.done

From experience I can now say....Bicarb and vinigar mix DOESN'T remove stains from the microwave....Infact I don't know what does!!! I have a brown corner in my microwave which DH made when he burned the popcorn....and I CANNOT get rid of it!!

NineUnlikelyTales · 31/03/2007 14:38

Luda it sounds like he actually burned the plastic, and I don't think you can do anything about that

ludaloo · 31/03/2007 15:12

I think you are right ...Its not even that old!!!
Well It doesn't smell anymore so thats a good thing!!!, just have a brown microwave

SimplySparkling · 31/03/2007 15:17

Good afternoon to all. Sorry I didn't get back at 1pm. Dh arrived home and we got talking about financial stuff (interest rates, closing accounts and moving to an account with a better interest rate, the service from Lloyds being better than our previous bank, etc etc) and then had lunch.

Well done Aufish.

9nut You're making me jealous.

luda I think it sound like the plastic has burnt, too. You might be able to get rid of some of the colour with Barkeeper's Friend (if that is what it is called) but it might not work and costs a bit to buy. You could have some from me when I next see you, though, to try it. Remind me.

Well done too to Jelley.

Yadda I imagine brushing it would be sufficient to get it looking neat, would it? Perhaps a hose down, too? I very rarely look at the missions so I'm spared these tasks! [naughty emoticon needed] Though once I get on top of the house I think I'll join in. Perhaps.

ludaloo · 31/03/2007 15:36

Thanks simply

Well I'm deflated now....I have mounds of washing to do and upstairs to tidy, but I've run out of steam.
I am starving too! I've started tea already, Pasta Bolognese...yumm...but it'll be very early!! Ah well...we can always have something on toast this evening if everyone gets hungry again!!

tortoise · 31/03/2007 16:42

Hi all.
Been having fun here and got a bit more garden dug!
playing hide and seek at the moment! Im suppose to be counting. Lol!
Hope all having good day.
See you later.

ludaloo · 31/03/2007 16:52

Sounds fun tort

I have been rescueing my flowerbeds from 2, 3 year olds with a couple of spades!!! Ds and...well of course.... the little boy across the road!! The path, and the side of the house are covered in soil

Just off upstairs to have a tidy round...had dinner now, and I'm re-energised!!

tortoise · 31/03/2007 17:14

DS's have gone now. Need to pop down town but its suddenly decided to chuck down with ran.! Will wait a few mins then go. Might pick up chips from chip shop for tea. Not had any for a while!

Oh dear Luda. That doesn't sound much fun!

shouldbe · 31/03/2007 17:52

Hello

Db and SIL have gone, lo's have been to today's parties and dh has just taken them for a short walk to help wind them down before bedtime (early night tonight so we can watch Doctor Who in peace ) While lo's were at the parties dh and I popped into town to look at getting a new bike for dd's birthday - sooo expensive for a kids bike , will be looking around for alternative ideas or roping the family in to help with the cost

Have done nothing in the house all day and it shows ...will have to work harder this eve/tomorrow...

Palm Sunday tomorrow so I'd like to get to church - not sure if we'll manage the early start though and anyway one of the parties tomorrow is at lunchtime so there may not be time for it all...

Sorry not to have read through the posts (getting very lazy at that ) Hope everyone is well
