Neutradol carpet freshener grimness

Son split milk on carpet, didn't tell me, leading to awful mysterious smell in his room for weeks. Finally solved it, and shampooed area. Smell much better but still there. Tried bicarbonate. Smell still there.
Husband bought neutradol carpet freshener, and liberally sprinkled it, then vacuumed it up.
The smell is .of the freshener is WAY worse than original smell! Yuk, yuk, its overpowering and grim. Does anyone know how long it will take for this new smell to dissipate? All window are wide open, and I've vacuumed it more....

I HATE the smell of Neutradol

Try spraying with alcohol- IPA if you have it.

Neutradol is rotten. You have my sympathies. No idea how long you'll be stuck with it but I usually put a bit of kitchen roll with a drop essential oil or zoflora in the cylinder and it leaves a nice smell.

The neutradol smell might come back once that smell disappears though. Do clean inside your vaccuum though because the smell of the neutradol may be lurking in there waiting for next time you switch it on.

Three days later, it still really reeks. Yuk. Warning to others, don't use neutradol, it's vile.

Yeah. I've used neutrdol once. It does smell rank. For ages. ☹

Blue or green? The green one lasts forever

linspins · 23/08/2017 19:14

Abbssisspartacus, it was the sprinkle and vacuum carpet freshener. Still smells strongly, four days later.

The carpet powder comes in two scents, blue or green. The green is more foul and the smell can last for months.

Did he sprinkle the entire carpet? If only a small area you could make a paste from the bicarbonate, apply and vacuum once dried.

I second the washing of the washable parts of your vacuum cleaner too. I washed the filter and the collection section of my dyson try to reduce the spread of the smell.

Good luck.
