What do you clean every day as routine?

I'm an ex-grotbag. I live in a lovely house now that I've just painted and furnished and I never want things to go back to how they were.

So, what chores do you do daily to keep your house clean, looking tidy and smelling fresh and what do you do weekly/fortnightly?

Vacuum every day.
Do laundry every day (or at least as soon as you have enough for a half load). Use a nice fabric softener - if you hang laundry out to dry at night it makes the room smell nice. And when it's dry PUT IT AWAY IMMEDIATELY!
Everything in it's place - don't clutter up, it makes it so much harder to keep clean if it's untidy.
Change bed linen once a week - on your chosen day, strip the bed as soon as you get up.
Always wash up mealtime dishes before you go to bed. Preferable straight after the meal. Dirty dishes let to the next day are just yucky.
A quick squirt of bleach round the loos before bed takes seconds.
Always rice round the bath/down the shower screen after each use and thorough clean once a week (the same morning you strip your bed maybe?)
Dust hard surfaces every couple of days.

Lots of things there which as indivudual tasks only take minutes to do.

Clean the kitchen including surfaces and sweep floor - mop oncenor twice a week as necessary

load unload dishwasher

Put a wash or two in the machine

Tidy round living room before bed, cups and plates papers shoes etc in there place

Make the beds while carrying a Jin bag for rubbish (we have a dog!)

Bathrooms cleaned properly once a week but loo daily (3 kids) use the pop in bluloo freshers

Weekly polish

All take 5 mins etc and saves them build up of crap

I do a big clean 1x a week. But vacuum 3xa week, bathroom 2x a week, beds made every day, laundry every day, rubbish out daily, dishes daily. It's an effing nightmare keeping it any kind of clean and tidy with 2 kids and a husband. It's the never ending story really!

I hope this doesn't sound braggy, but my entire house is always clean and tidy.

I/we have an "if you see it, clean it approach", as in if I see something needs doing, I will do it there and then (only the very odd time will I not do it immediately, and even then, it's done within a few hours).

Everyday

Morning

• Draw curtains, open windows, fold bedding back.
• Wash on
• Light wipe over of sink, shower screen & floors and loos when I'm in the bathroom with the kids.
• Empty dishwasher and put breakfast dishes straight in (dc chores)
• Lint roll sofa for dog hair (DD aged 3 lives for this chore)
• Wipe down dining table, breakfast bar and kitchen surfaces
• Quick sweep with the broom.
• Hang washing out (chore for eldest DC)
• Make beds (individual DC chores) before getting dressed

Evening

• Light dust (do a tiny bit every day and then a proper deep dust and polish twice a week)
• Put toys and junk away (DC chores)
• Put clothes away
• One of us makes the adult meal and cleans up from the DC meal whilst the other does bed and bath.
• Stack dishwasher
• Put washing on overnight timer if needed
• Wipe finger prints off french windows and fridge
• Quick once round with the hoover and straighten blankets, books and cushions.
• Mop kitchen

Stop dead at 8pm.

Tomorrow I'm going through all my clothes and getting rid of at least 50%. Most things I never wear/don't fit/are falling apart and we don't have a lot of storage space in our bedroom (8 drawers) so I really want that sorted as that's by far the messiest room in the house.

Can I ask, what's on all your kitchen counter tops? Are they are save for a kettle and microwave or do you have things out like chopping boards, a knife block, slow cookers etc?

On my kitchen worotops I have a toaster and bread board on one side of the room. A kettle on the oppoite side.
Next to the sink I have a small plate with handwash and a radio.
Next go the hob we keep salt pig and pepper mill.

That's the absolute max I would keep out. We deliberately had a microwave intergrated into a unit because the top of microwaves are dumping grounds. We keep a pinboard inside one of the cupboards. It is next to the hoover, so we see it daily.

I never go to bed with the house being a tip - by which I mean, the kitchen is clean and the lounge is tidy.

I don't let crap accumulate - I'm ruthless about getting rid of things (recycling/charity shops etc).

I clean little and often. Heavy traffic floors get vacuumed daily (Dyson cordless is brilliant - especially with music - I pretend it's a dancing partner ).

Generally I think the key is to keep on top of it all by doing a bit every day, so you don't end up with a huge list of stuff that's off-putting.

Kettle, chopping board, toaster, microwave. That's enough.

I have a kettle that goes on the range.

On the work surfaces, coffee machine, nutribullet, microwave and toaster, plus knife block and utensil holder (chopping boards live on top of the microwave).

I have a cooks cupboard where the food processor/kitchen aid etc live.

Most of the work surface is clear.

Daily: I keep on top of the dishes and laundry and wipe kitchen surfaces clean. I tidy up little and often as I go along. Last thing at night I put a capful of Zoflora down the loo and the plug holes in the bathroom (keeps everything smelling nice.

Every couple of days: Bleach down the toilet and give the bathroom sink a wipe round. Hoover main areas.

Once a week (not all on the same day): Clean bathroom. Dust and polish. Hoover whole house. Thoroughly mop kitchen floor. Change the beds.

I find it very difficult to relax in a mess so my house is clean and tidy almost all the time on this routine. I don't feel as though I spend all my time doing housework and I'm far less stressed than my friends who have messy houses and are constantly in the middle of trying to do something about it. I think once it's in a good state you can keep it that way by just doing little and often.

Just by putting stuff back every single time you will keep on top of things.

Clean up after every meal- dishwasher or wash up. Don't go to bed without making sure the kitchen is tidy.

Empty the bin every day.

On maternity leave just now, only 1 DC, but dogs and cats too.

House is given a good clean all over once a week. Takes about 2 hours. Bed changed, all towels changed, recycling put out.

I do laundry daily, because even if clothes and bedding are washed, there's always dog blankets and towels to be washed, the baby's endless clothes, bibs, muslins, play mats etc. I try to keep the laundry baskets empty. I try to put things away daily and wipe down worktops, cooker and tables. I will Hoover every couple of days, but it just depends how much pet hair is around and how much it's annoying me!

Although reasonably clean and tidy, I am terrible for having hidden junk piles. So right now I have a 'shit drawer' in one room, the living room pouffe is full of crap, and various other small deposits around the house I need to work on these.
