Right, who has long Bosch cycles on their machine and are they worth it?

I've got a Bosch washing machine, all good, I like it, does what it says on the tin. But the wash cycles are SO LONG! I want to use as little water and energy as possible.

So would you -

a) utilise the shorter cycles on 'quick wash' in the thought that less time has to = less energy?

or

b) use the eco option (which can be up to 4 hours!) because: 'ECO', although how this can be I don't know.

I have figured out how to do the hour wash now, but the shorter wash leaves things not so clean and the longer one leaves clothes looking like they have been through a mangle! Faded, badly creased and battered. I have never had to iron such badly creased clothes! Anyone else found this? My previous machine used to wash an hour and a half on the shorter cycle, and the clothes were never so badly creased or faded. Also, how do you set the default cycle? I can't find the handbook..

Where is the speed perfect button?

I have a Bosch. It is very old. My cycles are quick because it has a hot fill, so there is no heating of water.

Now they've changed all that and I think all new machines are cold fill. Seems ridiculous to me

crazyhorse, you should be able to download the manual for your washing machine. You just need the make and model number.

Once you have these just google "User Manual for Bosch - or whatever makes yours is if not Bosch - model number" and press go and it should come up for you to download quite easily. Smile

Good luck!

I know this thread is a little old but it came up when I searched, I'm looking at getting a Bosch machine and was also confused about the eco options. The explanations have been very helpful about the longer soak and rinsing as I couldn't understand how it would save money on heating water to the same temp but over a longer time. I don't have a specific model in mind yet, does anyone know approximately you save in ££ on the eco wash?

It comes to something when I have to come on to mumsnet to understand more about Bosch washing machine cycle times. I had no idea that cycle times could run in excess of 4 hours. But now I know thanks to all you mums. The lady on the Bosch service desk also believed the cycle times were too long so recommended a service engineer visit. I have cancelled it now having read all your comments. Thanks mums.
