If I use tablets in my dishwasher, do I still need salt?

Think it depends on if the tablets already have salt in them but i think the tablets i've got do have salt but its not very effective so we put salt in as well hth.

my dishwasher stops working if the salt runs out (plus I can tell it is running low by how badly the dishwasher has worked!)

I use 5-in-1 tablets with salt and it works fine without any additional salt anywhere else.

i stopped using salt ages ago and found my dishwasher has scaled up so suggest you use it as well

After several similar threads over the years the verdict is that dishwasher still need salt whether you have tablets that claim to have added salt or not. If it breaks down and you have not added salt the manfacturers guarentee is void.

Does it not depend on the hardness of your water? I'm in Scotland, with very soft water, and don't use salt. In fact, I don't even know if you can buy salt here.
