Smelly milk frother

Any ideas?
While we were away the DC came home and used the Nespresso coffee maker which was fine, but left milk in the aero frother thingy which heats and froths the milk.
It smells vile, even after repeated washing, both the interior cylinder and the coil/spring in the base.
Would baking soda help? And if so what concentration?
Grateful thanks

Lots of bicarb and warm water. Fill it up and leave overnight.
