Are these worth it?
And are they any good?
I like the idea of grill, oven, and microwave in one go.
How effective are they say at toasting and grilling?
Ty

If you have very limited space, they are a good idea and work ok on all functions. In my experience though, being more complicated, they can be less reliable. I've had two pack up after about 3 years each. Bought the cheapest, most basic, microwave-only after that and it's still fine, 11 years and counting... Might just be me having been unlucky with them of course.

Following.
We don't have room nor the right electricity supply for a double oven so are thinking about one of these.

Had one in a previous house - tiny kitchen so not worth replacing, I thought. However it was so good that after a couple of months I wouldn't have replaced it, even if I could have accommodated an alternative.
Best cooker I ever had, though not suitable for mass catering. It was a Neff.

borntobequiet · 14/08/2017 13:02

Oh - forgot - after 5 years of use the grill stopped working, but at that point the appliance was probably 10 years old.

MissPollyPops · 14/08/2017 13:10

I've never used the grill bit of mine, but use the oven part most days. Just need to use round oven trays haha

FrogFairy · 14/08/2017 14:46

I have a 5 year old Panasonic flatbed combination microwave.

I have never used the grill, but regularly use it as either a microwave or an oven, only occaisionally as both at the same time. It does good job.

The only things I would criticise is that I find it hard to clean, especially the grill part inside, and it sometimes makes a loud popping/cracking noise when first switched. This scares me but so far has not led to it actually breaking down. It is also much bigger than a normal microwave so eats up a fair amount of worktop space.

If it died today, tbh I would probably buy a normal microwave and a counter top mini/toaster oven. Much cheaper and more compact as I could put the toaster oven away when not needed.

Had a microwave combo oven that is used regularly. Bought it before I was pregnant with my daughter... she is almost 16!
Great back up

sashh · 14/08/2017 15:50

Mines about 20 years old.

It's great as an extra oven or to to keep things warm if I'm using the other ovensand I occasionally use the combi function - roast chicken in 30 mins is good.

To be honest it mostly gets used as a microwave.

AttentionSeekingFantasist · 14/08/2017 15:57

Combi here - a panasonic - the most basic version available.

It mostly gets used as a microwave, but combi is brilliant for baked potatoes, and the grill and oven functions were used all the time while the kitchen got redone.

When it gave up after about 9 years we went straight out and bought the same one again.

NotCitrus · 14/08/2017 16:16

I have a Panasonic one which sufficed as my only oven for 2 years. Now I have a proper oven I still use the micro oven as it heats up instantly almost and is more efficient for small pans. The grill on the micro isn't great but better than none.

TronaldDumpy · 14/08/2017 23:04

Well I absolutely loved ours. Bought it when we moved in to new house as the oven was so disgusting.

Totally renovated house. New oven (of course) and no real room for combination oven. I keep looking for room because I loved it.

I actually prefer it to our inbuilt NEFF oven.

Isadora2007 · 14/08/2017 23:52

The Panasonic one looks fab but 🙈 At the price... as we need a new oven as well. Damn kitchen planners- why wouldn't they think to mention that the electrics for a single oven aren't the same as for a double and make sure we were certain a single oven was adequate?

YNK · 14/08/2017 23:58

I have the Panasonic - it's been used daily for 6y.
I absolutely love it!

TronaldDumpy · 15/08/2017 00:06

Isadora - I sympathise with you (re planners). We have a single oven and I really miss the combination one (big time)

zuton · 15/08/2017 11:07

Thanks all very helpful 👍🏻
