Stains on fabric dining chairs

Can anybody help please? We have light coloured fabric dining chairs which have stains all over. When I try to wash them, I am left with water marks. Can anybody recommend anything that will get rid of both the food marks and the water stains.

You can easily recover chairs if they're too bad.

We only bought them at Christmas, they are not too bad at the moment but I would like to keep on top of them.

You could try hiring a rug doctor with upholstery attachment?
If you are getting watermarks, it does sound like you will have to re-cover the chairs.

When you say you try to wash them, are they fixed covers? I think you may have the cloth you are using too wet and that means you are getting water marks. I would use Stardrops in cold water and wring the cloth out really well then clean the covers using a circular motion.

They are fixed covers yes. I will try that wow. If all else fails I will hire a rug doctor.

I'd have a bash with a carpet cleaning spray like 1001, or a carpet foam before paying out for a rugdoctor. You may still get the watermarks but Rugdoctors also clean with hot water so you may find the same with that.

Are you sure it's water leaving stains behind rather than cleaning product?

I wouldn't risk a foaming product tbh. Can be a nightmare to get the foam out.

Try a magic sponge. I get tide marks off all sorts with them
