Would you have a cleaner you know?

We have had a cleaner for a number of years, and she's had to hand in her notice due to ill health. We're looking for someone to replace her. There is someone we know who runs a cleaning business, and has good reviews, but I'm not sure about someone I know cleaning my house. Would you have a friend or acquaintance do it or would you rather have someone new? I know it'd be supporting her business, but I guess I'd feel embarrassed about someone I regularly chat to cleaning up after me. Thanks.

Don't do it! We did. She was crap. It's very hard to sack your friends...

Oh gosh, I hadn't thought about that aspect of it. Also 'telling' them what you want done can be hard.

I agree with yogi!

We employed a friend years ago as a cleaner. The arrangement was that she would come in at a time to suit her in the morning but after a couple of weeks she started messing us around and wouldn't turn up until after DH had arrived home from work which completely defeated the object as I wanted the place nice and clean for when we arrived home.

Then she started "Accidentally" breaking my lovely crystal wine glasses 😡.

I soon decided it was easier to do it myself!

I am a cleaner. Personally i would not work for someone i know. Prefer to work for strangers.
