Getting ancient spit-up stains off baby clothes

I'm due DC2 in 4 weeks, and currently going through DD1's old newborn clothes to see what can be reused. Easily 80% of the clothes have yellow/orange/brown stains round the neck and chest. Is there any way to remove these 4yo stains?

Hot wash with whitener and sunshine.

I've just done all of my three year olds for the newborn, and most of them have come out pretty well.

I hate to say it, but I don't think there is. What I would suggest is soak in napisan for a couple of days, then wash with an extra rinse, then fry on direct sunlight (assuming that's any possibility, as it's been rainy/cloudy here in England for weeks!)

Fry? [weeps]
Dry, obviously. My phone hates me!

Give them a good soak, 24hrs at least, then hang on washing line, again for a good while.

Leave them on the washing line for 4 days come rain or shine!

No washing line! Not a thing in the country I live in (I know). I was thinking maybe soda crystals, or vinegar, or both??

Not sure you can get Napisan here.

Assuming a 24h soak in detergent doesn't help, I'd try some sort of proprietary stain remover and soak for many times longer than the label says!

They are weird stains, they seem to develop over time so you put away clean clothes and when you get them out, they're dirty.

Can you not put anything outside at all - balcony?
