Looking at the chest of drawers and bed side table and eventually a wardrobe when we can afford it. I quite like the white but not sure whether to go for the high gloss or plain white. We don't have an IKEA near us so taking a bit of a gamble so need some opinions please our currently Argos furniture has fallen apart 🙂

You must tether the drawers securely.

bingobunny · 11/08/2017 23:06

They fall apart quickly ok if you just use short term and don't overstuff

Casmama · 11/08/2017 23:06

We had malm bedside tables and a chest of drawers in our last house. Had them for 8 years and they were as good as new.

SellFridges · 11/08/2017 23:07

It's not my taste nowadays but we have had a lot of it in the past. It's solid and practical. I would recommend.

And yes, be sure to secure correctly.

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 11/08/2017 23:07

They're ok, the bottom has fallen out of the drawers on a couple of mine.

Hemnes is far superior and worth the extra money.

And yes, Malm tips very easily, so needs tethering to the wall

dementedpixie · 11/08/2017 23:07

They come with fixings to fix them to the walls (although we haven't used them tbh). There are lots of warnings not to open drawers and climb on them too

They are quite sturdy and the drawers are a good depth

KakunaRattata · 11/08/2017 23:08

As long as you're happy to build it then I think it's a cracking bit of furniture for the money. Well designed and smooth drawers from my experience. As above, make sure you secure anything that could fall, you should do this with all furniture though.

Nightmanagerfan · 11/08/2017 23:08

I think they are excellent for the price -
The runners on the drawers make them easy to open and close. I've had some for years and they are fine.

Maria1982 · 11/08/2017 23:08

We have several -two bed side tables and one big chest of drawers. In oak.
I love them, esp the chest of drawers. Five years and going strong.

A worthwhile upgrade is to get the glass top for chest of drawers if you can - instantly makes it more hard wearing, protected against spills etc

scaryclown · 11/08/2017 23:09

Mine has been excellent, three drawer has never threatened to tip and good deep drawers. Bought it as a quick standin, but love it so kept it.

nameohnameohname · 11/08/2017 23:09

I've had mine for YEARS. Solid, well built and worth every penny.

Lesley1980 · 11/08/2017 23:13

We had Malm bed, drawers & bedside table for our flat 11 years ago & they are fine. The flat has been rented for 5 years & they still look good & the drawers are smooth.

If you have kids tether them because our cat opened the bottom
Drawer & they toppled. We had the 4 & 5 high though.

OlennasWimple · 11/08/2017 23:14

It is what it is - not heirloom furniture, but does the job, looks decent and lasts well considering the price. And there is a good range so you are more likely to find what you want

fannydaggerz · 11/08/2017 23:19

I've had my malm bedside tables and chest of drawers for 10 years. Never had any problems with them.

Very easy to paint with furniture paint if you want to change their colour.

confusedandemployed · 11/08/2017 23:20

I think they are amazing for the price.

jmh740 · 11/08/2017 23:26

We've had the drawer in ours and the children's rooms for years the only problem is the bottom of some of the drawers have popped out but that's because we've crammed too much stuff in! Went to buy another set a few months ago and they now have reinforcement in the drawers so it must have been a common problem

RhinestoneCowgirl · 11/08/2017 23:30

We have them in both DC bedroom (bolted to wall). Oldest set is 11yrs old and still fine, bottom of drawers bow slight ly on some, but not too bad.

We have wardrobes in our room and they are 13 yrs old. Ours are pretendy wood tho...

Dickorydockwhatthe · 11/08/2017 23:52

Would you say white or high gloss white is best?? And would it be suitable to put a small to on?? A bit worrying that they topple over.

We've got two set of drawers and they're brilliant. Simple and look quite nice, not cheap or flimsy looking/feeling at all. I highly recommend; really don't see any reason to pay more for anything else.

northernbobbydazzler · 24/08/2017 08:17

Definitely high gloss rather than plain white, it's cheap & cheerful but just as good as some slightly more expensive makes such as next / mamas & papas. Kallax units come in matching colours too if you need storage.
