Mascara on wool carpet

Morning all,

I was looking for a bit of advice please, we have some house guests at the moment and it looks like one of them has dropped their mascara on the light wool carpet. Wouldn't normally be a problem, however she didn't tell me and instead has attempted to remove the stain herself (she is clearly mortified to have done it, she is really so lovely and does so much for me!) .

She has used Vanish carpet stain remover which says it is suitable for wool but it looks like she has scrubbed it rather than dabbing it. Now the carpet is a different "fluffy" texture in the places it has been scrubbed. I presume there is nothing I can do about that but there are still black mascara marks, does anyone know how I can now try to remove these? I tried face wipes but I think as it has been treated with something else they just aren't doing the job.

Try a cold solution of mild detergent in water and blot the marks with it. Stardrops Original or handwash liquid detergent should work. You might want to ask if it was mascara just to be sure you are giving it the right treatment - it might be ink and I think you need dry cleaning stuff for that.
