Carpet cleaning......how often?

I'm horrified! I'm a clean person, don't have pets and we are pretty good at removing shoes, I Hoover a lot but yesterday I hired a carpet cleaning machine to do two rooms down stairs and can't believe the colour of the water that came out! I did the "worst" room looked clean before I started honest about 4/5 times and the water was never clear .

I'm embarrassed to tell you how long it's been never-

So, Ho w often should I be shampooing my carpets?

I've been in my new place for almost 4 months and theydefinetly need a clean now . I rent and the larndlord got them done before I moved in so it's all our dirt.

How much did it cost to hire?

From Johnsons drycleanrs. There was an offer, £15 for carpet vac and £10 for solution for 2 rooms. Not extortionate and I have the in the summer to do it.
