Best brush for velvet sofa

I've just recovered our sofa with a soft velvet in emerald green, which is showing up all the white cat fur!

I don't like hoovering it too often, so is there a brush which would do well to keep it looking nice? Or is a lint roller best?

i have a purple velvet chaise (my pride and joy!) and i clean cat hair off it with rubber gloves- total genius. it all balls up.

I'm so pleased with the sofa. I'd covered it in a cream fabric originally to be 'safe' but then thought sod it, life's too short for safe colours.

Yes, just dry rubber gloves! It's the bet way to get cat hair off everything...
