Shall I get a carpet sweeper?

You know, like your gran used to have... I've only just realised you can still get them.

Downstairs is all hard floors, with one nice rug in the front room. Stairs and upstairs all carpet. I hate lugging the Hoover up and down stairs, its heavy and I've got dodgy tendons in my wrist.

So if I get a carpet sweeper I can keep the Hoover upstairs!

Anyone got one? Are they any good?

I'd get a dyson cordless, great for quick cleaning.

I have a Hoover upstairs and one downstairs, ended up with two after moving in with DH. Not a cheap option I know but works well, specially now I'm pregnant and struggling to lug myself up the stairs let alone anything else! I inherited my Gran' s carpet sweeper years ago it was rubbish, may as well have not bothered, it ended up at the tip.

Hmm, that's a bit disappointing...

Can't justify buying a second hoover (although did recently pick up a little handheld one in Lidl's aisle of random the there week which is handy for the car, and the hallway when the kids come back from with the beach.

Good reviews on lakeland for the carpet sweeper on there. Maybe they've come on since our Grans had them?

You can get electric/rechargeable ones now. I just got a Shark one on an Amazon deal and it's ok. Not brilliant but tides you over till proper hooverings

I got a carpet sweeper as adult DS is funny about me using a vaccum cleaner near him. Got a Bissell carpet sweeper from Argos and it's quite good.

Recently treated myself to a Dyson V6 cordless but haven't used it just yet. For some reason I feel guilty about abandoning the £20 pounds or so carpet eweeper for the £250 Dyson! Silly aren't I?

Nooo my nan obsessively ran around the house with one. They just seem to scatter crumbs everywhere.
