Mattress recommendations

We've currently got a dunlopillo that we got for an amazing price over 10 years ago but it's getting a bit saggy and we're both achey in the morning. Looking at replacing like with like but they're a bit eye watering on the cost front! We like not having springs and are both fairly light mainly side sleepers. Anyone tried the Eve or any of the other internet based ones with a 100 day return? Any other recommendations?

We have the Ikea Hovag and it is fabulous (although it is sprung). I've never had a bad mattress from Ikea though, so would be tempted to try one of their non-sprung ones. They have a 90 day window when you can exchange for a different mattress if you don't like it.

Thanks Dandelion, I didn't know about the 90 day exchange for ikea.

We haven't had to use it, but if you go for it just check the terms carefully. I think it says something along the lines of "you have to use the method of purchase for exchange", so if you bought the mattress online I think they deliver the new one, but if you went to the shop I think you have to haul the other one back to swap it. Not sure though.

We have the Leesa mattress which is one of the internet companies that give you 100 days. I was skeptical but read around a lot and checked comparison reviews etc online and went for it.

It took about a fortnight for me to get used to (I'd never had a type with memory foam before) but now I adore it. Sleep like a baby. And my not so delicate lump who turns over a million times an hour husband rates it also, I don't seem to notice him move as much.

I'd also advocate a Tempur pillow. Crazy expensive but you only need one each (not two even if you like height) and they are never our of shape, uncomfortable, needing plumped or losing volume. I'm a total advocate now!

Warren Evans have some lovely ones with a 120 night guarantee. We've ordered the Joy one (springs so may not be good for you but there are others) and it is being delivered on Wednesday. Very excited .

I think the problem with springs is that I had cheap spring mattresses before and always felt them- when we got the dunlopillo one it was amazing! I guess a new spring mattress is probably a different matter. Freckles what made you choose the Leesa over any of the other ones? I'm finding all the marketing and reviews a bit confusing...

I've found having a spring mattress and a reallly good quilted / padded mattress protector on the top is the best combination for us. You get the comfort and support of the springs and the softness on the top of the protector.

@taybert sorry missed you asking me why the Leesa til now. I can't totally remember now!! I think there was a mattress review blogger man? I watched some of his YouTube things and read some comparison reviews and then I messaged him with a few questions and decided to go for the Leesa. Very happy with it.

Freckles - is it very soft? Whine we need s firm mattress that feels like it's got a squashy topper

I have a Myers mattress not far off 9 years old which will need replacing sometime soon. It's sprung with a memory foam topper built in. I feel its been excellent value but I'm worried about accidentally replacing it with a heap of shit!

We got this, click and collect, it's a great night's sleep.

@flumpybear no, I was expecting (worried) that a memory foam mattress would be too soft for me but actually it was much firmer than I'd imagined.
I sound like their sales rep now but I just decided to try it and worst case scenario they'd be coming back for it while I tried another!!!

am a huge fan of memory foam. There are basically 3 tiers: (marketing-wise, not quality-wise)

1. Big brand names (ex. Temperpedic)
2. Online beds (ex. Casper, Leesa, etc.)
3. Amazon beds (ex. Zinus)

Stock, the memory foam beds are fairly firm. You can add a gel foam topper to add squishiness if needed. I have both a 12" green tea & a 12" pillow-top; the pillow-top is surprisingly firm. If you decide to get one, I would recommend trying it out before ordering a gel topper (which are also sold in different thicknesses
