Natural coloured woollen rug needs cleaning - how to do it if I don't have a carpet cleaner?

I suppose you could use the washing liquid designed for wool clothes - if something is safe to use on a cashmere jumper, it should be safe on a wool carpet. Just test a corner first to make sure it is colour fast.

you could dissolve some wash powder in water and do it with a sponge,i had do ours like taht when our carpet shampooer conked out!my aunty does hers like that asell but uses a nailbrush to scrub the sides.

Wonder if baking/bicarb of soda would do?
Do Kim and aggy have a website where you could check this?
Its supposed to be good for carpet stain removal/cleaning I think...

Ooh, if you're prepared to scrub then sprinkle on some bicarb, then scrub with a little soda water. leave to dry, then hoover up.(Try a little corner first, just in case!) My rugs come up a treat with that
