Good roasting trays anyone?

Can anyone recommend a good range of roasting trays (boring I know but we need new ones and I am v indecisive!).
I did look at the Mermaid range from Lakeland but they are really heavy.
Need ones which you can use on the hob to make gravy, so need to be good quality etc etc.
TIA.

We just use big ikea ones, they are great, put up with daily use (including stuff on the hob) and last a reasonable amount of time.

Sorry should have said we are miles and miles from IKEA and not in the delivery area yet either...

ggirl, how heavy are the kaiser trays? Do you know if they are non stick? The prices are not too bad, was expecting to have to spend more, the Mermaid ones are v pricey...

I'd like to buy some more substantial roasting dishes but have to admit that the cheap ones I have used for around 20 years are still fine and I make gravy in one every Sunday.

Carmenere · 25/03/2007 17:14

I just use cheap ones and they work absolutely fine. No need to spend lots of money on roasting pans imo.

I can't remember the make, but we got ours from John Lewis. They were £30 for the smalle one and maybe £45 for the bigger one. We got them in 2003 and they are holding up very well.
do you live near a JOhn Lewis, I think their cookware is quite good over all

well I have the spring form one and have had it for years,it's certainly non stick and we've used a knife on it and -no marks.Still looks like new.
I am assuming the roasting pans are the same quality and am ordering one.
Really really recommend them.

brimfull · 25/03/2007 17:18

sorry yes,kaiser stuff is heavy

ArcticRoll · 26/03/2007 13:19

I have the Mermaid ones you mentioned Pannacotta and don't find them too heavy to make gravy with.
They are really solid and good quality.
Think it's worth paying extra for good quality ones.
Cheap ones buckle (especially if you use them on hob)

Pannacotta · 26/03/2007 16:44

Perhaps I should just get the Mermaid ones, suppose recommendation from Delia and Lakeland is pretty impressive......
