Best vacuum- light, pet hair, around £200

I'm looking for a new vacuum. The one I have at the moment is ridiculously poor, so I feel like anything will be a huge improvement! Some things that are really important:
-we'd like to keep it around the £200 mark
-I own a big dog who sheds a lot of long hairs
-It needs to be light enough that I can whip it out during the day whenever I need to, without getting all hot and sweaty.
-if it has the handheld hoover attachment that would be amazing, but not compulsory.
Please tell me if you have a vacuum that fits this criteria!

Do you need it to serve the whole house or just the kitchen?

We have a good rechargeable one. Sits on its cradle most of the time and I do the kitchen with it every day. I have 2 shedding cocker spaniels.

I'll look in s moment the brand. Watching Wimbledon just now.

It's the AEG one I have. I'll try and link to it.

link?

I am rather in love with my dyson v6 absolute cordless..... bought for under £200 reconditioned on the dyson ebay shop.

It needs to be emptied frequently as only has a small capacity container BUT because it's handy and always on charge the floors get done more frequently.

We have a spaniel and it copes fine with his hair

Sorry I should have mentioned it is to do the entire house. Mixture of carpets, wooden floor and laminate.
I will have a look at both now. Thanks for the replies!

Vax air reach. Costs around £120ish. Never had a problem with mine, gets pet hair up easily and its not heavy.

Shark: I replaced my Vax early this year and have fallen in love with my Shark Lift Away (partly because of it's name). It is reasonably light and as I have a back problem and my DH has arthritis, ease of use is paramount. The 'Lift Away' name comes from being able to separate the brush part and have a 'cylinder' which can be carried to vacuum the car or stairs etc. It is easy to empty, has easily washed filters and a good length hose (and if storage space is limited), quite a small 'footprint' and sells at under £200. Best vacuum cleaner I've ever owned.

Miele cat and dog. Had mine for 10 years and 2 dogs (one very long haired) and still going strong.

Another vote for the Miele S8 Cat&Dog - cleans up pet hair really well and is fairly light and easy to manouevre. I used to have Dyson DC14 Animal which picked up pet hair well but I found it difficult to do the stairs as the tube wasn't long enough and it was heavy and cumbersome to cart up and down stairs compared to the Miele.

Bosch Athlet. Light & the amount it picks up every day, is bizarre.

Its the best thing I have ever bought!

Thanks everyone. I decided to go with the Miele cat and dog and I'm very pleased so far. Thanks for all the posts!

My sister has got a Vax H85-GA-P18. I think she got it for £70 and its really worth the money spent because her apartment looks much cleaner now.
