Organising photos without laptop

I have an aging laptop with loads of photos on it. My iPhone and iPad are also full to bursting. I don't really like my laptop and never use it. Can I buy something to store and organise my photos which plugs in directly to my iPad and iPhone or do I need a computer

You could use a hard drive to store all the photos from your laptop, although I don't know how you get them off your iPhone.

Or get a Dropbox account, then upload all of them from your devices to that one place in the cloud?

I keep my on a detachable hard drive as there are so many. I keep meaning to look into using a cloud which I believe is also a good option.
