I can't make this interesting. The grill in my electric oven produces clouds of smoke when heated. Why?

It's because fat gets splashed on it when you cook in oven mode and the grill is burning it off. Open the back door, turn it to high and let it smoke. Your smoke alarm will go off!! Mine is like this, it is self-cleaning.

I think grills in ovens are unusable because you can't clean the grill elements so everyt ime you roast a dinner it gets grease deposits and if you don't use the grill all the time they build up and burn off when you do use it

if you are selling the house then just leave it..

Mine too
Leave it if you're selling, they won't check the grill
If you weren't I'd suggest letting it all burn off and /or getting Ovenu or someone to come in and clean it.

Fascinating thread btw!

It could be fat that's been splashed up. Probably too late on this remark but hey ho.

On her own? Plenty of time to clean ovens then!

zippitippitoes · 25/03/2007 09:55

she will enjoy cursing at the filthy people she bought from

if she is fussy she will want new kitchen and bathrooms
