Dosing ball for powder detergent

New washing machine & installer recommended putting powder in a ball in the drum rather than drawer - any idea where I could find a ball please - have looked on Amazon & Ebay using "dosing ball" and the balls in the middle of the persil small & mighty are too small for powder.

Also the drawer of new machine (Hotpoint) seems to clog up and not take the powder into the drum - just used it for 2nd time and see all the powder is still in the drawer all wet but usused. Thanks.

I've never even heard of putting a ball in the drum for powder

I used to put the powder in the dispenser drawer but now I just chuck it in with the washing- no mucky drawer to clean out 😃
It's easy.

I just chuck it in too.

This used to be a thing in the early 90s with products like Ariel Ultra, Persil Micro etc - but as they're not around, the balls for powder just don't exist now.

The Persil balls will be too small as you say, but the ones from Ariel/Daz/Fairy etc are much bigger.

You can order one here.

Or if you don't want to wait for delivery (and are willing to buy a bottle of liquid to get the dosing ball). The ones that come with the brands above are big enough, also the one that comes with Persil Silk&Wool will be big enough (but none of the other Persil ones will be)

thanks I'll take a look

Blimey, I remember Persil Micro! My parents used to use that back in the day. I think I remember the adverts for Ariel Ultra too!!

As a student I used to put powder in a sock for taking laundry to the launderette - worked well.

Yes Rabbit that Persil Micro song Grin. It was to an existing tune, but I don't know what.
