Washing machine leaving immoveable black marks on laundry

Hi, my washing machine seems to be leaving large blacks marks on towels and bedding. And I can't get them off with vanish - can anyone recommend how to get the marks off please?

I do a regular maintenance wash on 90 degrees with bio powder. I have never had this problem before and have had this machine for 2 years. We had a water softener fitted 6 months ago so I wonder if this is causing more scum to build up? Any thoughts on what could be causing this please?

Any advice most gratefully received.

I had this problem with a Miele machine about 5 years old. Engineer said it was a sign the drum was wearing and due to other things going wrong we ended up getting a
New one. Sorry that's not great news. Black marks could never be removed.

Black marks are normally caused by oil leaking from the machine and that can only be coming from one place - the drum bearings. It means your bearings are wearing out, it is almost definitely going to be cheaper to replace it.

In terms of the stain, it's going to be hard (if not impossible) to remove.

Thanks for the responses. Can't believe the machine has lasted less than 2 years (hotpoint!). Many thanks for your help.

Don't most appliances have a 2 year warranty?

Blush I must say I rarely clean my washing machine, including the powder drawer. I did mine yesterday and scrubbed a ton of black slime off the drawer and its slot. Could it be black slime... Looking on the bright side....

it only has a one year guarantee. it has a 5 year parts guarantee but the labour will cost £120 if done via Hotpoint.

Thank you, now I know it's really the drum. Will have to invest into a new machine... :''-(

The Miele washing machine has a design flaw which means not all the water is discharged after a wash. A puddle is left in the fold of the rubber door seal. If you close the door on this after a wash, black mould will grow in the machine and stain your wash. It is essential to wipe up the puddle and leave the door ajar after a wash to let the drum dry out properly. Hope this helps.

Omg sorry I know I'm several years to late lol, but I bought a Indesit washer (owned by Hotpoint) and just 18 months later the actual weight fell out of the bottom! It had broken into two!
I contacted Indesit and they just kept reminding me it was out of warranty and said best they could do was leave my complaint on their computer which would stay internal?
I cannot believe a company with such bad customer services.

OP- Apart from that there is the Consumer rights act 2015 which states that even out of guarantee goods should last a certain amount of time, and a washing machine should certainly last longer than two years! Contact whoever sold it to you and Google the Act so you can quote it to them. You won’t get a total refund but you should get an amount towards another machine. My granddaughter did this successfully when her TV packed up, just out of guarantee.
