Do I just put it on the longest setting possible empty?

Do I put something other than softener and powder in to clean ?

Help pls ? My whites keep having mucky marks all over them so want to try cleaning it

I normally put bleach in where the fabric softener goes, on a 90 degree wash once a week, then do the white sock wash incase there is extra bleach!

Soda crystals or distilled vinegar to clean it and put it on the longest, hottest wash.

Thanks both, anyone else?

I like the bleach idea cos it's easy I've got some in house but scared it will wreck clothes
On next wash?!

I run a dishwasher tablet through mine every now and then.

DandySeaLioness · 13/07/2017 20:37

please don't put bleach in!!! I did that with my previous washing machine....suffice it to say I have a new one now.
I didn't even put much in but it made so much foam that it escaped through the detergent drawer flooding the kitchen door, got underneath the washing machine itself and fried it right up.

You can buy special washing machine cleaners that don't foam up.

You could also put a couple of dishwasher tablets and run it on a hot cycle, those are designed not to foam up too and they will cut through any residual grease.

Do you put the dishwasher tablet in the drum?

DandySeaLioness · 13/07/2017 20:50

@Ridingthegravytrain yes, I used to put two in the drum until I followed some fucker's advice and decided to try a cup of bleach instead.

RiverTam · 13/07/2017 20:52

I just always wash my towels at 95 with biological powder. Seems to do the trick. Pull the drawer out and give it a scrub every so often.

Powder is your friend. Liquids and gels are what hunks the machine up.

Ridingthegravytrain · 13/07/2017 20:56

Haha ok in the drum it is. And definitely no bleach!!

littlemissM92 · 13/07/2017 21:30

I use powder and softener so could I
Just fill the draw with those like I would for a normal wash and turn it on hottest longest wash empty? I do keep the drawer clean x

And don't be surprised if you still get slimy marks for a couple of washes after the maintenance wash. It loosens all the gunge. I use a damp cloth to clean inside the seal, crevices, take the drawer out and wash the drawer and inside the drawer cavity and then do a maintenance cycle with either 2 or 3 dishwasher tablets.

But sometimes the gunk just gets shifted and needs more than one cycle to remove.

Zoflora? I do hottest wash with a capful of Zoflora in the drawer from time to time.
