Hi,
I have had my cleaner for 3 years , she charges me £20 for 2 hours work per week, although she does go over the time by 20 minutes on average each week, (she has never charged me for this) she has always done a fantastic job on my house, is trustworthy and very reliable only taking Christmas off! Each week she does my kitchen, wash all cupboard doors, work tops, cooker top, hoover and wash floor, clean windows and remove cobwebs, (it is a large kitchen) hallway hoovered and mopped, front porch hoovered and mopped, lounge dusted and hoovered and windows and french doors cleaned, all doors cleaned, stairs hoovered ( one flight) master bedroom hoovered and dusted, en_suite cleaned and mopped, family bathroom cleaned and mopped .
I have always been very pleased with her work, but when i came home today i found that she had not done the main bathroom, i text her and asked why and she said that she had to take her car to the garage for MOT and she had forgotten to text me, she had done 2 hours, but did not have time to do the bathroom. When my husband came home he looked around the house and found that the cooker top had a smudge on it and the tiles in the en-suite were smeared, he is furious and wants to sack her.
Do you think we should get rid of her or ask her to finish the clean and give her another chance?

You can't be serious.

Fucking hell.

Mymouthgetsmeintrouble · 17/06/2017 10:47

I wouldnt if its a one off plus thats a lot of work for two hours i doubt you will find someone else to fit all that into two hours

VerityHabitat · 17/06/2017 10:50

You underpay her, she has done good work for 3 years, she works for free for you and she has one minor infraction that could easily be overlooked and you want to fire her? Do you have any understanding how to work with people as an employer?

I hope this is a wind up. She should have sacked you long ago.

Puffpaw · 17/06/2017 10:51

Is this a reverse?

Donttouchthethings · 17/06/2017 10:52

Is this a joke?
I've had quite a few cleaners. This lady is a gem to be loved and cherished. Put your husband straight and give her a good tip at Christmas.

Reow · 17/06/2017 10:53

I think this is a reverse.

PurpleDaisies · 17/06/2017 10:54

Seriously? Hmm

NC4now · 17/06/2017 11:01

She sounds like a keeper to me. Have a quick whip round the bathroom and cooker with a dettol wipe and look forward to her next visit.

franciemczoo · 17/06/2017 11:01

From what you describe you should be paying her £30 a time not £20.

You are totally taking this piss.

franciemczoo · 17/06/2017 11:02
  • the piss
Donttouchthethings · 17/06/2017 11:09

Get out a timer and set your husband to work doing all that you're asking this lady to do. I'd give him at least 4 hours.

AnniesTurn · 17/06/2017 11:11

Got to be a reverse

If not then fucking hell

Ilovebaconbutimonadiet · 17/06/2017 11:12

You're taking the piss seriously here. I would never work for you. £20? What a joke.

lorrimay · 17/06/2017 11:13

Yes time yourself doing that as it's a hell of a lot of work. You've been taking advantage of her for years

Donttouchthethings · 17/06/2017 21:50

This must be made up; no one could seriously think this is reasonable.

Cupcakegirl13 · 17/06/2017 21:58

Reverse or you are an awful employer !

GeneandFred · 22/06/2017 09:25

I would sack off your husband.

I'm a cleaner and it really gets my goat that people have no idea how hard of a job it is. Especially in this heat. She sounds like a gem. Do not sack her because who ever you get to replace her will probably never be as good as her because what she is doing is going over her time constantly to make sure your house is kept clean. She made a mistake, so harsh to sack her.
